Beanfield Book Quiz

A group of students from Year 5 and 6 took part in the Beanfield Book Quiz. There were 10 children in total who worked in pairs to compete for their house team. The children had each been given a copy of ‘The demon headmaster’ four weeks prior to the event and had to read it in their own time in order to prepare for the quiz.

The first round of the quiz was based upon the set book and each correct answer was worth 5 house points. During the second round the students were given 10 multi choice general book knowledge questions to answer, with each correct answer being worth 2 house points. The questions were read out by two of our school librarians who helped run the quiz.

At the end of the quiz there were some very close scores:

1st – Team Freedom – 46 points

2nd – Team Respect – 44 points

3rd – Team Pride – 34 points

4th – Team Responsibility – 32 points

5th – Team Tolerance – 30 points

Each team will have their totals converted into house points for their teams. As Team Freedom were the overall winners, they will have their points doubled. All students will receive certificates to celebrate the hard work and effort they put into preparing for the quiz.

Miss Carey who organised the event said, ‘I was so impressed by the children who took part in the quiz, they showed so much dedication in preparing for the quiz and you could tell how passionate they were about taking part. Their enthusiasm towards ‘The Demon Headmaster’ was fantastic and I have really enjoyed talking to the children about the book. I definitely want to hold more of these events in the future as it is a great way of showing how fun reading is!’

Lily May said, ‘The quiz was so fun and everyone was trying their hardest’

Blaize said, ‘It was a fun way to learn about a new book.’
