This week classes 3B and 5B began trialling being reading buddies to each other. Both classes have recently been working really hard to fit in at least ten minutes of ‘reading for pleasure’ time every day to promote a love of reading.

Class teachers Miss. Carey and Miss. Lansberry wanted their children to have the opportunity to read with other children in a different year group, who they might not usually have a lot of contact with.

On Monday afternoon, both classes were mixed up so that they were made up of half of 3B and half of 5B. The children then had just over 5 minutes to share their own book with a partner, before swapping turns.

Both the year 3 and year 5 children were thrilled to have this opportunity and showed the school values of freedom and respect by choosing the books they wanted to share and also listening to their partner read to them. Everybody was in agreement at what a success the buddy reading was and we can’t wait to continue over the next few weeks!
