International Book Giving Day

On Friday 14th February, schools all over the world celebrated International book giving day.

On Friday 14th February, schools all over the world celebrated International book giving day. This is a 100% volunteer ran initiative aimed at increasing children’s access to and enthusiasm for books. International Book Giving Day has continued to grow & grow since it began in 2012.

At Beanfield we celebrated this special day for the second year running by holding a whole school book giving day.  Due to our training day, we celebrated this day on Thursday 13th February. On this day children were able to bring in any books from home that were still in a good condition, which they no longer wanted and would like to give other children the opportunity to read. In return for their donated books, children received a voucher to spend in our book shop.

This was a fantastic opportunity for children to be able to recycle their old books for someone else to enjoy and we were really impressed by the number of books that were donated.
