Reading for pleasure competition and new rewards
Since half term we have changed the name of our ‘Reading at home competition’ to ‘Reading for pleasure’ competition. This means that if children choose to read at break or lunch time in school, this will also count towards the competition. We have also revised how we reward children who read for pleasure – for those that read 3 times ore more over a week they stand up in assembly to receive special recognition and a round of applause. In addition, those children that have read 5 times or more have their photo displayed in the corridor in KS1 or the hall in KS2 and also go outside for 5 extra minutes on a Tuesday break time.
The children are really rising to the challenge and we have had some really impressive results from our reading for pleasure competition. It has also been really lovely to see children being rewarded for their hard work and dedication to reading.
