  • Holocaust Memorial Day

    Published 31/01/22, by Admin

On the 27th of January we were taken to The Lab in Corby Cube to commemorate the Holocaust by lighting candles for the ‘One Moment’ at 8pm. Whilst doing this I felt sad that people were killed just for being who they were. (Ignas, Year 5)

Members of our Pupil Parliament and Prefect teams were invited to represent Beanfield at this poignant event which we were proud to attend. The evening also consisted of a live screening from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust as well as a variety of guest speakers and singers.

  • Brass Recital

We were extremely lucky to have a visit from some of the specialist music teachers at Northants Music and Performing Arts Trust to perform a brass recital. The teachers spent some time demonstrating each of the brass instruments (trumpet; trombone; French horn; and tuba), explaining how brass instruments are played and discussing how each instrument differs in pitch.

The teachers performed a variety of songs and took some time to ask music-related questions to the children - particularly considering musical elements such as tempo; dynamics; and pitch. It was noted by the teachers that children were able to talk about a range of musical elements, giving examples of how they are featured within music which they were particularly impressed by.

  • Deputy Mayor Visit

We were very lucky to welcome Cllr Chikoto, Deputy Mayor of Corby to Beanfield. For the first part of his visit, Jordan and Rhys took Cllr Chikoto on a tour of school and also visited some of our classes. Class Ambassadors introduced themselves to Cllr Chikoto and informed him of what they were learning in class, as well as proudly sharing some examples of their work.

Following on from this, Cllr Chikoto led a question-and-answer session with our Pupil Parliament where he asked us questions such as what we like at Beanfield; what we enjoy most about learning; anything that could make school better; and our hopes and aspirations for the future. We also asked Cllr Chikoto some questions about his role within Corby and the Town Council.

Cllr Chikoto informed us that he had really enjoyed his visit to Beanfield Primary School and that we were the very first school that he had visited. Cllr Chikoto was particularly impressed by the excellent attitudes and manners displayed by all children as well as their dedication to their learning.
