Beanfield Primary School

Home Learning

We remain committed to providing remote learning for any children who are unable to come to school for any reasons linked to COVID 19.

Our remote learning package consists of three phases:

Phase 1: Your child is absent from school while awaiting a test results (1-3 days).

Each year group will share a weekly timetable of activities to be completed at home in the Phase 1 Home Learning tab on the left of this page.  This will be updated every Monday.  This timetable will also be shared in the Year Group story on Class Dojo.  Please upload any work your child completes into their portfolio on Class Dojo.

Phase 2: Your child is isolating for 10 days or they are shielding.

The home learning for Phase 2 will only be provided via Class Dojo and only when you have reported your child's absence to the school.  When you have reported your child's absence, their teachers will share a weekly timetable of lessons that replicate what is taking place in school and each day will share lesson resources via Class Dojo.  You can then upload your child's learning to their portfolio on Class Dojo for their teacher to look at.  If you have not yet signed up to Class Dojo please do so.  The links to join each year group can be found in the Class Dojo tab on the left or else please email your child's teacher via the year group email addresses below for support:

We were really pleased to see so much learning taking place at home via Class Dojo last week - even though we are coming to the end of lockdown it is amazing to see everyone's commitment to keeping on learning!

On Thursday this week we will be celebrating World Book Day in school and hopefully you will be celebrating at home as well.  We are encouraging children, either in school or at home, to dress up as their favourite book characters and we look forward to seeing all the lovely pictures on Class Dojo.  Our teachers would love to hear children read this week - please upload a video of your child reading to their Class Dojo portfolio.

Mrs Stanley has also got some additional activities and competitions which you might like to take a look at for World Book Day.  You can find these in the tab on the left hand side of this page.

Please keep up the good work and keep sharing your work with us in the following ways:

  • Class Dojo
  • By emailing your teachers
  • By returning any paper learning packs
  • By taking our end of week quiz (if you have issues with these please let your class teachers know.

If you've not shared learning yet this half term, make this the week to do it!!

Take care and stay safe!

22nd February

Welcome back to Home Learning - we hope you have all had a restful and relaxing half term.

You will find everything you need for this week's learning in the Year Group tabs on the left.  Teachers have set enough work for four hours a day but we know sometimes this isn't walys possible to accomplish so remember to do what you can.

All our home learning is also uploaded each day onto Class Dojo.  If you have not yet signed up to Class Dojo, please email beanfield.admin@beanfieldprimary.org and we will get this sorted out for you.

We were so impressed with the high quality of the learning that was taking place at home before the half term break.  Please keep sharing your learning with us via the following:

  • Class Dojo
  • By emailing your teachers
  • By returning any paper learning packs
  • By taking our end of week quiz (if you have issues with these please let your class teachers know.

Remember, you can get support from your child's teachers by emailing them using the year group email addresses or by messaging via Class Dojo.  Teachers will also be in touch during this week to check how you are getting on with home learning.

Keep up the hard work at home and please stay safe.

The week of Monday 15th February to Friday 19th February is the half term break.  We want children to fully enjoy their break from learning to recharge their batteries so we are not uploading a full curriculum for this week either here on the website or on Class Dojo.  Instead, each year group has put together a sheet with ideas of activities that you may wish to use during the week as we realise that going out and about or visiting friends and relatives will be tricky.  These activities are designed to keep children active and engaged without the use of a screen wherever possible.

We will be back with a full week of learning on Monday 22nd February.

Take care, stay safe and have a lovely half term break - you have all deserved it!

We have been thrilled with the amount of learning we are seeing being shared on Class Dojo and so pleased with how any families have signed up in only a week.  As we head towards the half term break, it would be wonderful if we could see even more work being shared this week.

If you have not yet signed up to Class Dojo please try to do this.  If you have any issues you can email your child's teachers on the year group email address and they will do their best to support you.

This week we have Safer Internet Day on Tuesday and we will be sharing assemblies on Class Dojo and here for children to watch to support their understanding of how to stay safe online.

This has been a difficult half term however we have been so proud and impressed of all our children learning both in school and at home.

CLASS DOJO

This week week we will be launching Class Dojo across the school in order to make sharing home learning easier and to improve our communication with families.

To get started with Class Dojo, you can either follow a year group link that we have posted in each year group’s area which can be found by clicking the tab on the left.  Clicking that link will then take you through the login process which is very straightforward.  Alternatively, Class Dojo can be downloaded as an app on a phone or tablet or you can access via their website.  We have attached a How To Sign Up support guide to this email and also a Signing Up Support Slides document to support with this process.  Class Dojo can be used on multiple devices at one time so more than one parent can have access.  You can also access multiple year groups from one account as well if you have more than one child in the school.

Starting on Monday 8th February, we will start uploading work using Class Dojo and ask for your patience as we get everything set up.  Every morning by 8.30am, the learning activities for the day will be loaded up on Class Dojo and you will be able to access this in the Class Story area.  Once your child has completed their learning, photos can easily be uploaded to share with their teacher who will be able to provide individual feedback.

We have set up a Class Dojo tab on the left links to a YouTube video to support with signing up.  All the How To guides are also stored there.  We are on hand if you need any support with logging onto Class Dojo – you can email the year group email address letting them know if there are any problems and we will do our best to support you.

Thank you again for sharing so much amazing work last week - we have really enjoyed receiving the email and looking through the paper learning packs that have been returned.  Please keep them coming!

As ever, your full week of learning can be accessed using the year group tabs on the left.  Don't forget to complete the end of week quiz on Friday and make sure you take time to listen to the stories.

Good luck and have fun this week!

26th January 2021

We have really enjoyed seeing pictures of so many children getting on well with their learning at home this week - our social media has never been so busy sharing all your great work!  Can we please ask that you send at least one email a week to your teachers on your year group email address with some pictures showing what you have been up to in your learning at home this week.

NEW THIS WEEK!!

End of the week Quiz

When you have finished all your learning this week please have a go at your end of the week quiz to show your teachers how much you've learned.  The quizzes can be found in your folder of learning for this week.

Story Time

Your teachers have been busy recording stories to share with you this week.  There is one for every year group so once you've listened to your own, maybe have a listen to one of the other year groups' stories as well!

There are lots of useful websites out there which you might find useful.  Here are some recommended sites we have come across:

www.Schoolreaders.org/storytime - password is love2read - a treasure trove of stories for children.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize - there are lots of resources on BBC Bitesize and also there is a daily programme of learning on CBBC.

https://ttrockstars.com/ - it's always good to keep mental arithmetic ticking over.  Children all have a login for times tables rockstars.

There is four hours of learning for every year group for every day to keep you all busy however please remember just to do what you can as we know it can sometimes be really hard and stressful.  We are always here to support if you need us.

Good luck and take care!

18th January 2021

We have been so impressed to the start everyone has made to learning from home over the past two weeks.  Teachers have loved hearing about how you are all getting on and we have enjoyed seeing the pictures of children's work.

Don't forget:

Home learning

Every Monday, the learning the whole week is loaded onto the website for you to access.  There is a daily timetable for each day and then resources to support each lesson.  The resources don't need to be printed in order for learning to be completed.

Year group email addresses

Each year group has a dedicated email address so you can direct any questions about home learning to your child's teachers.  Please also use this to send us pictures of learning that you are completing at home as we love to see what children are getting up to.

Teacher check in calls

Teachers from your child's year group will be calling every week that we are in lockdown to check that you are getting on well with home learning.  Please note that sometimes teachers will be calling from home so the school's phone number might not show when they ring and you may see a No Caller ID message.

Paper learning packs

These can be collected from the school office between 9.00am and 3.00pm on Thursday and Friday only.

Although we have uploaded four hours of learning for every day of the week we know that it can be hard to get everything done.  Please remember to just do what you can and also remember that we are here to support if you need it.

Good luck and stay safe!

5th January 2021

Dear Parents/Carers,

During this Lockdown, all our Home Learning is going to be posted here on our website.  From next week, every Monday a week's worth of learning will be posted with a range of activities from across the curriculum clearly set out for you in daily timetables.  The learning is designed to give children some access to the curriculum they would have received had we been in school to ensure their skills and knowledge continue to develop whilst school is closed.  All documents can be viewed on a laptop, tablet or phone.  Please note - these documents do not need to be printed.  Children just need to view them and then can complete their tasks in their Home Learning books.

We appreciate that many of you will be working from home whilst also home educating your children and may have more than one child at home.  Wherever possible we have tried to ensure that children can get on with their learning as independently as possible, giving clear instructions for how they should complete their learning.  Whilst we have set out four hours learning for each day, please do the best that you can in your own personal circumstances and feel free to supplement learning with other activities both on and off line.

For those parents who have requested paper-based copies of what we are posting on line, these will be available for you to pick up from the school office on a Thursday or Friday between 9.00am - 3.00pm ready for the following Monday.

To enable smoother communication for you with your child's teachers, each year group has been set up with an email address which can be found by clicking on the year group page on the left.  Please use this to direct any questions about home learning to your child's teachers but also use it to share your child's successes - we'd love to see pictures of the amazing work your child is completing at home.

Please use the tabs on the left to access the learning for your child's year group.  Some learning may require logging into Times Table Rockstars, Mathletics or Purple Mash - please ensure your child has their login details for these websites.  If they do not, please email your child's year group teachers.

This is a very stressful time for us all - as ever, if there is anything we can do to support you or your children please don't hesitate to get in touch.  Please stay safe in these difficult times - we look forward to having you back in school as soon as possible.
