Beanfield Primary School

Week 5 - 1st February

We hope you’re all doing well.

This week in Maths, we will be starting by recapping equivalent fractions and how we can convert them to decimals remembering our bus stop method for division. Then we will be converting to percentages which will be helpful when solving problems throughout the week. In SPaG, we are going to be identifying relative pronouns in sentences and using relative clauses to add extra information for the reader. Following this, in English, we will be looking at recounts (remember, that’s when we retell a story or event), centred around the movie ‘The Impossible’. First will be looking at the emotion of the characters, then looking at word choice when writing in present and past tense before writing a full recount of the terrible event. After this you will design a missing person advert for one of the characters using emotive language and exciting description. In Topic, we are going to be exploring the Greek Minoan Civilisation using your skills with research and discovery to create an information page about them and how they lived their lives. Science will look at plant and animal evolution and Art will have you listening to create a unique masterpiece. Finally, we will continue to practice comprehension skills in reading - remember to annotate the text in any way you need to identify key information.

We’re sure you’re all working very hard at home and will enjoy the learning this week – remember to write down or email any questions you might want to ask your teacher.  If you do an incredible piece of work and need to show the world – send it over so we can see it.  Try to send at least one email this week so we can see what you've been up to. You can send your questions and pictures to: BPSY6@beanfieldprimary.org.

Don't forget to take the end of week quiz on Friday and also we've uploaded the next chapter of Floodlands for you to enjoy - this week Miss Matthews is reading it.

Keep safe! We hope to see you all very soon!
