Beanfield Primary School

Week 7 - 22nd February

Hello Year 6!

We hope you’re all doing well.

This week in Maths, we will be starting with recapping percentages using your bubble maps to find percentages of amounts. After this you will be moving onto Algebra looking at an input and output to find the rule and function. We will use function machines to solve fluency and problem solving questions. In SPaG, we will be looking at identifying word classes on their own and within sentences and then analysing how we use commas for clarity in lists, parenthesis and speech.

Following this, in English, we will be looking at out class test Floodlands – we will be discussing what we already know, what we can predict and what questions we still want answered. After this we will be planning and writing a balanced argument about 2 of the main characters.

In Topic, we are going to be using our D&T skills to look at destruction caused by natural events and how we can design buildings to survive. In P.E we will be learning the basics of fitness by tracking your pulse during exercise and practicing out throwing and catching skills. Science will look at human adaptation and comparing homo-sapiens to their ancestors. In Art you will be creating a before and after image which has been struck by a natural event, re-create your own and be creative.

We’re sure you’re all working very hard at home – remember to write down or email any questions you might want to ask your teacher.  If you do an incredible piece of work and need to show the world – send it over so we can see it. You can send your questions and pictures to: BPSY6@beanfieldprimary.org and fill in the end of week quiz. Also don’t forget to have a look at our stories on the website each week read by a different member of Year 6, you will need these for your English work.

Keep safe! We hope to see you all very soon!
