“If I had my life to live over again, I would have made a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music at least once every week.”
Music education enhances and develops confidence, communication skills, instils the discipline to persevere, and embeds performance skills that are transferrable to all areas of life.
At Beanfield Primary our intention is that all children develop an understanding of music through listening, appraising, discussing, performing and composing music across a wide variety of historical periods, styles, traditions and musical genres. Children develop a curiosity for the subject, as well as an understanding of the importance of music in any person’s life, as well as in the wider community, and that they are able to use their musical skills, knowledge, and experiences to involve themselves in music, in a variety of different contexts.
We pride ourselves in having a broad and balanced curriculum which caters to the varying needs of our children. By creating music from an early age children are encouraged to explore the musical world around them, experiment practically with instruments and find confidence in their abilities to create their own music.
