It has been an exciting few years with celebrations and as a school we couldn't possibly miss out on the chance to celebrate our new King, Charles III. • Comic Relief 2023

    Published 20/03/23, by Lucy Cooper

We had a week of celebrations and fundraising across the school in support of Comic Relief. On Monday 13th March we held a school bake sale where children and members of staff brought in a wide selection of delicious cakes and sweet treats. These were for sale throughout the day and after school, much to everyones delight! Our fabulous catering team and manager chose a winner from each key stage.

On Friday 17th March the fundraising continued where we took part in a whole-school mufti day. Children and staff were encouraged to wear something that made them happy. We had various pyjamas, slippers and comfy clothes across the school.

The final amount is still being counted and we will update you all shortly!

  • Internet Safety Day

    Published 11/02/22, by Admin

Wow, Safer Internet Day has been a roaring success and it was such a pleasure to see all of our children from E.Y.F.S through to Year 6 show such enthusiasm and maturity when undertaking activates this year in exploring our theme of “Online relationships”.

    EYFS and KS1

Down in KS1 we focused our learning around the story of “Digiduck”. Through the story the children were immersed into the vast, exciting and sometimes overwhelming world of online gaming and we worked together to help Digiduck overcome a number of barriers using the children's already impressive understanding of online safety. Through the story the children were able to link Digiduck’s experiences to some of their own and work together to outline strategies we can use in real life to safely avoid and navigate negative online experience that we may encounter in our daily lives.

    KS2 And Amethyst Class

In KS2 and Amethyst class excitement was high as the children shared and discussed their own favourite games with their classmates (it is no surprise that Minecraft, Roblox and Fortnite stood out as the runaway favourites). Whilst online gaming is a passion shared by many children we explored those aspects of gaming that can evoke negative emotions in our children and what do if this happens. We focused on online financial transactions, peer pressure and online bullying in games on voice chats and message boards as well as game content that is not age appropriate and makes us feel uncomfortable. The children’s maturity and understanding was again very impressive in these sessions and through discussion and role-play regarding the part we can play in taking responsibility for our own actions online instead of trying to change the actions of others, our children again shown great confidence in how to keep themselves and others safe online.

We are so proud that the children here at Beanfield once again have shown their strengths in navigating and ever-changing technological world safely. They really do stand out as pioneers and role models of the present and future when it comes to the world of Internet Safety.

  • Holocaust Memorial Day

    Published 31/01/22, by Admin

On the 27th of January we were taken to The Lab in Corby Cube to commemorate the Holocaust by lighting candles for the ‘One Moment’ at 8pm. Whilst doing this I felt sad that people were killed just for being who they were. (Ignas, Year 5)

Members of our Pupil Parliament and Prefect teams were invited to represent Beanfield at this poignant event which we were proud to attend. The evening also consisted of a live screening from the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust as well as a variety of guest speakers and singers.

  • Brass Recital

    Published 27/01/22, by Admin

We were extremely lucky to have a visit from some of the specialist music teachers at Northants Music and Performing Arts Trust to perform a brass recital. The teachers spent some time demonstrating each of the brass instruments (trumpet; trombone; French horn; and tuba), explaining how brass instruments are played and discussing how each instrument differs in pitch.

The teachers performed a variety of songs and took some time to ask music-related questions to the children - particularly considering musical elements such as tempo; dynamics; and pitch. It was noted by the teachers that children were able to talk about a range of musical elements, giving examples of how they are featured within music which they were particularly impressed by.

  • Deputy Mayor Visit

    Published 27/01/22, by Admin

We were very lucky to welcome Cllr Chikoto, Deputy Mayor of Corby to Beanfield. For the first part of his visit, Jordan and Rhys took Cllr Chikoto on a tour of school and also visited some of our classes. Class Ambassadors introduced themselves to Cllr Chikoto and informed him of what they were learning in class, as well as proudly sharing some examples of their work.

Following on from this, Cllr Chikoto led a question-and-answer session with our Pupil Parliament where he asked us questions such as what we like at Beanfield; what we enjoy most about learning; anything that could make school better; and our hopes and aspirations for the future. We also asked Cllr Chikoto some questions about his role within Corby and the Town Council.

Cllr Chikoto informed us that he had really enjoyed his visit to Beanfield Primary School and that we were the very first school that he had visited. Cllr Chikoto was particularly impressed by the excellent attitudes and manners displayed by all children as well as their dedication to their learning.
